WELCOME TO OUR WEBSITE
Welcome! We have provided vision and eye health care to Southwest Missouri, Southeast Missouri, Kentucky, Illinois and Indiana since 2004. Thank you for entrusting your eye health care to Dr. Derek Melton and various staff!

As of May 21, 2022 we will recommence independent eye care at 99 Skyview Road in Portageville, Missouri after discontinuing patient care at 200 West Park Mall, Cape Girardeau, Missouri 63703 on March 12, 2022. We will hopefully establish a helpful practice for under-served Missourians in southeast Missouri on Saturdays from May 21, 2022, and Wednesday evenings as needed.

It was an honor to serve the patients affiliated at JC Penny Optical during the post-Covid 19 re-stabilization of eye care services provided there, and fortunately the optical there will continue to remain in service, offering very competitively priced optical goods to JC Penny customers. It is our good fortune that Dr. Donna Pry of Rhea optical will again be available for her previous JC Penny patients to see from March 12th, 2022, and afterward, moving forward. She has kindly agreed to accept transfer of our recent patients back to her care. She was affiliated with JC Penny Optical for the 15 years prior to the pandemic. Thank you Dr. Pry, your patients missed you! Please see the point of contact info banner below.

If you are a veteran, please see Dr. Derek Melton, at CBOC outreach clinics  in Missouri, or Indiana MTF, (if you have need of eye/vision care or guidance in eye disease management or treatment).

MASK POLICY UPDATE:

New guidelines and as a result of April 18, 2022 court order, masks are no longer required on or in high travel areas, but CDC has announced that CDC continues to recommend wearing a mask in public indoor settings in areas of substantial or high community transmission, regardless of vaccination status. We appreciate consideration of our elderly patients.

As of April 15, 2022, at Melton Eye Care Clinic, we will still maintain a 'mask wear' policy for our optometric physician(s) and clinical associates for many reasons and ask that our clinical teams continue N-95/surgical masks and clinical precautions as usual and customary aspects of our patient care/contact protocols. It is the individual right of the patient to make that determination for themselves and/or their families.

With previous mass immunization, natural immunity  and medication protocols, Covid-19+ is currently endemic and has a much reduced mortality rate for our elderly population.Unfortunately, new viral threats can occur, so caution is advised for 'at risk' patients.
